Back to School Ideas

I get tired of doing the same things in my classroom year after year. Back to school is just around the corner for me.   I decided to make some new treat bags for the beginning of the school year.  Here is a picture for my latest creation.  I think I will use the ones with the jungle theme that are filled with animal crackers.  Click on the picture below for your free gift tags.

I am starting to get my student's binders ready.  I made a little mini-dictionary that I like to put in the binders.  It contains many sight words that second graders should know how to spell.   Click here for the mini dictionary with the boy and here for the mini dictionary with the girl.

I also like to put in a math reference page in the binders.  They love it that it is in color.  Click here for your free copy of the math reference page.

Have you started preparing for back to school?

Now it is time to take my furry children to the park.  They love their daily walks in the park.

Viva Las Vegas

I am linking up with The Elementary Entourage about my TPT conference in Las Vegas.

I met many wonderful bloggers/teachers and was busy every minute! Every blogger you can name was at the conference.   I attended blogger meet-ups, TPT sessions, saw the new GoNoodle brain breaks, and went to Vegas shows.  I connected with Angie Olson from Lucky Little Learners (which is from my home state of Minnesota), Angela and Kelley from the creative Glyph Girls, and Allyson Sutton from Going Strong in Second Grade.  We will be working together to be bringing you many exciting new things for the upcoming school year.
Here are some pictures of a few of the bloggers that I met.  Can you name them?

I got to listen to the amazing Deanna Jump and Deedee Wills.  They had many wonderful tips in creating products from using fonts to editing pictures.  They are so helpful and willing to share their wealth of knowledge.

I love going to shows in Vegas.  Allyson and I decided to see Human Nature--The Motown Show.  It was a fabulous show and I highly recommend it if you enjoy Motown Music.  Luckily, Allyson who in her twenties wanted to see the show.  We purchased the tickets and had 7 minutes before the show began.  The guys are from Australia with an accent but the accent disappeared when they sang.

Here are a few fun pictures that we took while at our conference.  I am so excited to have met so many nice people and look forwarding to an amazing year of blogging.

Five For Friday

I am joining Doodle Bugs Teaching for another Five for Friday.

I hate going to the gym so to get a good work out, I  have been taking Lindy Hop, Swing, and Latin dance class.  We have fun learning how to dance and have met many wonderful people in our dance classes.  We like to drive to Pasadena and Burbank from time to time and practice our new moves.

I am so excited about my new blog design by Tenille Designs.  She did a wonderful job and I highly recommend her!   I love my new business cards for the TPT conference in Vegas next week.

This is our loft upstairs.  I have papers scattered all over the place!  I get it cleaned up somewhat and then I add more papers to the pile.  My goal is to get it all finished before my Vegas trip next week.  Wish me luck!

Our children are all grown up so now we have 2 furry children.  We spoil them by taking them for daily walks.  They especially like going to a place where there are ducks.  We love taking them to Lazy Dog for chicken and rice while we enjoy a meal.  They are always meeting new friends!  It is a great place for family and dogs!

Favorite Things about Summer

I'm linking up with Teaching Trio for My Favorite Things.

During the school year we are always rushing around.  There is always so much too do and never enough time or energy.  This summer I am trying to relax and slow down.  As teachers, it is important to rest and recharge ourselves.  It is important to do things for ourselves such as relaxing with a cup of coffee, reading a book, or spending time at the beach.

I am not one to sit around for too long.  I have to be doing something productive.  After many requests, I  finally had the time to make a Third Grade Morning Work packet.  The first week covers the standards for second grade so your students can do it independently.  The second week it begins to increase in difficulty.  There is math and grammar skills on each page.  Click on the picture below for some FREE sample pages of the Third Grade Morning Work or you can go to my TPT store to purchase it.  It is on sale for the next few days.
