My students had a fun writing activity this week. They told me why they would make a good Easter bunny. A few students choose to tell me why they would not make a good Easter bunny. They told me that they are clumsy and lazy---being an Easter bunny is hard work!
I just returned from a week long cruise to the Caribbean. Now it is time to start planning for next week, unpacking, doing laundry, and grocery shopping. My students will soon be taking the California Standardized Test. Here is a quick math review that I will be giving them when we return to school from spring break. Counting money, place value, fractions, expanded form and 3-digit addition & subtraction are the skills covered in the Easter math freebie for 2nd grade.

I also made these Easter math centers that you can grab in my TPT store.
Every day this week the leprechaun has visited our classroom. It started last week when he dumped crayons all over the room and left his hat behind. We hid his hat in the cabinet so he would return to our classroom looking for it. Every day he does something to our room such as tip over chairs, write on the white board, spill glitter all over the tables, and leave green footprints all over the sink and table.I had my students write and tell me what they would do if they found a pot of gold.

I also had the students give directions on how to catch a leprechaun. Leprechaun pattern is from Christie over atFirst Grade Fever.
Today we set our trap for the leprechaun.
I am off to fill the candy kettles for my students.
My class has been busy getting ready for our district benchmark test and the California State Test. Next week we will be taking our district benchmarks. I am busy planning some fun activities for St. Patrick's Day. My students deserve a little break from all the testing. Here are some synonyms cards that I made for next week. There is a total of 12 pairs of synonoyms.
I have been busy reviewing with my students for the state test. A friend shared this great video on place value from mathstory.com. They have lots of great videos. A few of my students were singing this song all day long about place value. It has a catchy tune.
I made this review for my second graders on place value. It isn't fancy, but it definitely does the job. Click here for your free copy of the place value and number sense worksheet.
Happy Wednesday! I am off to relax for a little while.
My class really like homophones! They are always giving me more words to add to our list of homophones. They will interrupt my teaching to tell me a homophone. I made this homophone anchor chart to share with you.
